Assessments
All club members must be assessed during the official dates agreed with the Coaching and Management Committees. These assessments must take place before the start of the new season. In some instances, players can be assessed once the season has started, particularly for players that want to transfer from a different club to ours.
Format
All existing club members will be invited to attend an assessment on a specific date.
We aim to conduct the assessments by level, merging teams closest to each other only when required by logistic planning. Any transfers between assessment groups are based on coach debriefs and recommendations.
Multiple assessors will conduct each session (minimum 2 unless logistically impossible), and any other coaches are invited to observe when available.
Members can only attend one assessment, unless invited by a coach for a second time.
All members are assessing for a place in the club, not for a specific team - the primary membership with LSVC is with the club.
What happens on the day
Players are expected to arrive at the venue at least 15 minutes before the assigned time for registration.
During registration you will be given a number as your identifier.
The registration team will take a photo of you with your number to create a photo gallery that the assessors can refer to.
Drills (80 min - will vary based on level and Coach Committee planning):
Ball control for passing and volleying
Pepper with two players (3 for league advanced teams)
Service targeting specific areas of the court, deep service to positions 1, 6 or 5, short service to positions 2, 3 or 4
Passing and setting to positions 2 and 4
Spiking to specific areas of the court
Play (30min)
Players will form teams and perform in game situations
All sessions will be recorded as supporting material for the coaches.
By participating in our assessment, you give consent to London Spikers Volleyball Club to capture photographs and recordings. These visual materials will be used solely by the Coaching and Management Committees for the purpose of conducting assessments. For data management please refer to our Membership Policy on the Documents & Forms page.
Results and confirming your place
Results and team allocation will be communicated individually when decision have been finalised with the Coaching Committee.
The Coaching Committee will decide which team is more suitable for each player.
Once the coaches have debriefed and allocated all players to a team, players will given their results via email from the club's Management Committee with an offer of a place.
A player will secure their place in the club and allocated team by following all the instructions in the offer letter and responding within 48hrs of receipt.
If a member does not confirm their place by the given deadline, their place will be forfeited and offered to another prospective player.
Membership fees
London Spikers is a non-for-profit organisation funded fully through membership dues. Annual Membership Fees are set by the budget, approved by the August proceeding the respective season’s start.
Each team will have a minimum number of players required for the club as decided by the approved budget.
For more information on Membership and Fees, please refer to our Membership Policy on the Documents & Forms page.
